Aaaah! Nooooo! Not the end! I loved this story sooooo much!
Thank you for writing it! It was really amazing... Splice didn't come to the cinema's here yet, and has even been removed from the website.. So I hope it will still come, cause I'm dying to see it!
I'm happy with the end of this story though, happy to know Tom and Bill can stay together for a very long time!
I'm sorry for not reviewing sooner, but I was on a holiday to Barcelona :')
I wish you all the luck with your child coming up and I can't wait for you to come back to proceed writing!
Author's Response: A holiday in Barcelona sounds SO nice...I hope you had a nice time! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story, and thanks so much for reviewing!

Wow, really weird but still totally awesome. I loved Gustav in this. Sweet farmer, how adorable. Don't worry over the ending, it's perfect with the overall tone of the story.
Author's Response: I'm so glad to hear you think the ending fits the tone of the story! And I adored Gustav in this, as well...he was one of my favorite parts to write. Thanks so much for reading, and reviewing!

I read it the day you published it but my phone ate my review. I've been having to think about what I wanted to say in response to this chapter. Yeah I'm a lot htorwn off by this ending. I don't mind ambiguous but this seem darn right abrupt. I feel cut off from my little alien Bill and obsessive little Tom.
I worry for when Bill understands what it will mean for their children. What kind of life will they live? When will enough suffering be enough. Those little beings are going to be tortured, because that's the way this corperation works. How will they be rescued? Did Tom splice them differently so that they were less human? Will they fight back against their existance? Will Bill and Tom fight to have them have normal lives?
I also worry that their entire world is only each other. That's a tough way to live only have one other person. humans are social and we need to interact with many. They only have eachother so their relationship may not be streghtened by this.
I feel abandoned. *pouts*
Author's Response: Aw, I'm sorry you feel abandoned--but I'm happy this left you with a lot of questions. That's just what I was going for. I felt this story called for an ambiguous ending--should you feel happy for them or not? They have each other, but like you say, is that really enough? I'm sorry if you feel the ending is TOO abrupt, though. All I can say is that all your questions are good ones, and ones that I didn't want to answer for you. I'd prefer to leave everyone guessing about those potential outcomes. That's partially my own evilness, and partially because the movie itself had such an ambiguous ending (albeit much more ominous than the one I went with). I wanted to keep to the tone of the film, so that meant leaving a lot of things unanswered. Anyway, thanks so much for reading and for all your reviews throughout. I really appreciate the feedback!

Wow, the end already! Hadn't expected that! But I love it, really! And I'm glad it end quite happy =P Sad ends always make me cry, haha =P But it's an amazing story and I'm sure I'm gonna read a lot more of you (;
And I wish you all the best with your baby when he/she is there!
Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad you like how it ended!

You sure did leave a problematic ending. I didn't quite expect this in this way, but it's good. Not maybe expected, but good. You kind of left it open as well. There is no moral answer or right and wrong. It is frustrating, but actually also comforting.
Did Tom did right or wrong? I can't tell you that. But I can tell that I understand his decision. It bothers me a little to realise how loose our moral eventually is when we are in front of actual questions. How easy it is to explain or turn backs. Yes, I understand Tom. I'm working on social work myself, so I've been wondering these questions of judging, right, wrong, moral and motives so much during my life.
The more I think about them, the less I can judge anyone.
"Our childrten" was absolute jackpot to this mix of moral dilemma. How to react on something like that? Because in a weird way - they were. Whether it was acceptablöe or not. You don't choose your life, your love, the paths life takes you.
In a way I compared it to a question of twincest. The same way it is a form of löove jugded as a wrong. Difficult and multi-layered, but not chosen by persons themselves.
Thank you for this awesome fic and I hope you'll have a great rest of the pregnancy & wonderful time with your nerwborn when she decides to artrive :)
Author's Response: Thank you--this is such a fantastic review! I really wanted to leave the morality question open-ended, since I think there really wasn't a right or wrong all the way through this story. And especially when deeper emotions become involved, issues get clouded. Anyway, I feel like you really got what I was going for here, which is such a relief! Thank you so much for reading, and for all your comments!

Oh wow, I agree with you, that was a fabulous ending :) I like the ambiguity of it, leaves people to interpret it how they like. And I'm sure no one hates you for the ending, your writing is far too brilliant for hatred to be involved. I like how you tied just enough together, like telling us about Bill's speech improvements and their children as they put it :) All in all, it was am magnificent ending!
On a side note, all my luck for you and your baby girl!
Aw, can't really believe this is finished now. I'm sure I'll be back to re-read xD Thanks for writing this! Take care, always xxxo
Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked the ending! Some people wanted the perfect happily ever after, but I just didn't think it would suit this story. Thanks so much for reading, and for all your lovely reviews!

Author's Response: I'm so glad you've been enjoying the story, and that you like how the relationship between Tom and Bill developed. Thanks so much for reading!

I absolutely loved this story, it was such an interesting and new topic, and I simply adored it!! But, I have to say, that I was a bit disappointed about the ending.. I am such a sucker for happy endings, and it bothered me a bit that you don't know what is going to happen to them, you know.. But, still, beautifully written!!
Author's Response: Well, I'm sorry you were disappointed. I like a good happy ending as much as the next person, but I'm not sure it would have suited the tone of this story. After all, it wasn't much of a fairy tale. So, it's a happy-ish ending. But I'm glad you liked the story overall, and thanks so much for reading!

It's pretty sad to see this end! I only found it two chapters ago after finally watching the movie that was impossible-to-watch-and-not-be-inspired-by, and yes, even though it moved a little from the end of the film, I'm relieved it had a happy ending. I even have a little bit of tears in my eyes as I review this, because I didn't really want to see it end.
It was a sweet, though respectively strange, love story that gave me moments of squeals and cheers, gasps and sitting on the edge of my seat. The incorporation of the band members into the story was rather brilliant, I must say- especially Gustav, which maybe intruiged me the most. I love that you even gave him a personality instead of him just sitting there like a potato.
Coming into this story from the summary, I have to say I'm *SO* glad you didn't choose the cliche choice of Bill taking up the female scientist's character. Just...thank you. Thank you so much, that would have ruined it. Having Tom be a loner seemed to make the 'creature' Bill a little more...personal, like in the end he wasn't doing such an experiment for the sake of a company or research- he was doing it for himself.
Thank you so much for writing this and sharing it with us. It was really well done and I really, really enjoyed it!
Author's Response: Thank you for this lovely review! I'm especially pleased to hear you say you liked Gustav's character, as I'm often guilty of leaving him out of stories completely...so I made sure to include him in this one, and ended up really enjoying writing him. As for the female scientist, I definitely tried to combine aspects of both Elsa and Clive's characters into Tom. I thought the way their characters changed in their feelings towards Dren were just a little too odd (Elsa's violent breakdown/Clive's sexual interest), but they were reactions that made sense to me if I combined them into one character. And yes, I liked the idea of Tom being a loner in the experiment. Anyway, thank you so much for reading, and I'm so glad that you enjoyed the story!

Brava!
I love it. It was just the ending this fic required. Open ended and open minded.
Author's Response: Thank you!

i think i love the reality of the situation more than some pie in the sky shmoopy ending. it grabbed me more that way. Awesome job!
Author's Response: I'm glad to hear it! I didn't think a super happy ending would suit the story, but I know some people were hoping for it. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

Aw! You did end it like the movie! Tom's gonna have babies! ... of a fashion. I really enjoyed this! Congrats on your baby and good luck!
Author's Response: I REALLY liked the ending of the movie (barring, you know, the rape and death). But I thought seeing Elsa sign her baby over to the corporation was really interesting...so I wanted to keep something like that in this story. I'm glad you liked it, and thanks so much for reading!

That was amazing! I read it all in one go and was absolutely intrigued from beginning to end. Thanks for posting. This is sure to be a fic I read many times over.
Author's Response: Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And I'm thrilled to hear you think it deserves more than one read!

For some reason I kept expecting for Bill to wind up pregnant, or lay eggs somewhere... dunno.
I think the ending was perfect, everyone can go on and have whatever they want to happen... happen.
It was an amazing story and a wild ride to read.
I had no idea you were having a baby, congrats! I wish the best and so much more. :D
Author's Response: Actually, when I first started thinking about this story, I considered having it be an mpreg! I'm not sure if you've seen the movie, but it ends with a pregnancy, and I struggled with how to work that in for awhile, but then decided that was just a bit too much. I didn't really want this story to end up being twice as long as it is! I'm so glad to hear you liked the ending, and thanks so much for reading!

I wonder what they're gonna do with all the clones. Hm. I feel like the ending was too happy considering everything that happened, but whatevs! I was expecting sudden tragedy.
I wish you happiness with your daughter!
Author's Response: Haha...some people think it's not happy enough, you think it's too happy. Oh, well! I'm calling it 'happy-ish'. The movie certainly was a lot more tragic, but I definitely wasn't going down the major character death track. Thanks so much for reading, though!

Hehe, I actually don't mind that you ended there. I did for a few seconds, but then I realized probably just bad stuff would happen to the new hybrids. Or maybe it wouldn't be so horrible. Lmao I don't know.
Anyway, I did like your version of Splice. And I liked that the person who made Bill was the same one who had sex with him XD Unlike that guy, who was constantly against Dren's existence, only to have some cheap sex with her *roll eyes*
Plus it was nice having the creature not turn evil in the end.
Author's Response: I was really surprised when Clive and Dren had sex...I mean, they built up to it a bit, but he HAD tried to kill her earlier in the movie. And I agree with you about the ending...I thought Dren was a really sympathetic character the whole way through, and then to suddenly have her raping Elsa was just a bit TOO out there for me. Anyway, I'm glad you liked the ending of the story, and thanks so much for reading!
