I know you're not here anymore, but I just have to tell you, even if you'll never see it, that I've read this story so many times, and every time I reread it, it takes my breath away. It's so beautiful, so painful, and so perfectly written. Thank you for this, it's absolutely stunning.

This was such a raw, emotional story and I loved every second of it. Brava! :)

Oh, poor Bill. My heart feels for him. You write so emotionally! Great story!

And what a labor of love this is. This story was very thought-provoking for me, in a introspective way. I absolutely love your poetic prose; it's sublime. All I can think to say is that you are this story are beautiful. It pains me to think that if I contract Cerebral Acromatopsia, I probably wouldn't have a "Tom" around to cuddle and console me when I go into melancholic states. Or at least no one I care for like Bill does Tom. I thought about how painful, monumental situations, such as Bill and Tom's, that make you become grateful for what you had or have. It's a lesson or virtue I wish to learn now rather than through a traumatic but rewarding experience. All in all, I'm thankful for reading this story and I wish you a lovely day.

Merry part,
Bluethorn

This was neat! I didn't imagine colorblindness being too much of a disability except for traffic lights, but no! Limited vision in bright and low light situations, emotional distress from no more color... and also safety issues! You couldn't see a flashing light, or maybe details on the ground where you're walking, and discolored food that may be moldy. And more things, I'm sure! Like when I go hiking, the fire hazard warning is always a colored insert into the sign.

And how sad, that he painted his ceiling with brilliant colors only to lose sight of them. :(

Thanks for educating me on this! I have worked with a child with a significant visual impairment, and I remember thinking about what color toys we'd play with, and making sure to put down a colored mat with large sections of yellow, blue, and red on it... and then I put the contrasting color toys on it. This kid taught me a lot about working with kids with visual impairment.

And now, this. You've shown me some of the functional and emotional limitations people with visual impairment can face. Props! Very nicely done, and I love the twinliness. Does Tom blame himself because he was driving?

Author's Response:

Why, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it and especially could relate back to it. My goal is always to educate and break misconceptions and misunderstandings about things.

rn

Good question, too. Tom doesn't blame himself for it because he couldn't control it. He wasn't speeding or anything stupid, it was a tire blowout and he lost control of the vehicle. Out of his hands, he couldn't do anything except get Bill and himself out of the car.

This story makes me smile because my brother is color blind. He can't tell the differences between colors so as he's customizing avatars in games and such I sit there so I can tell him if he's looking at orange, red, or pink, etc. etc. He always wears a lot of black and white because he knows he can't mess those colors up.

Very unique, very well written, very well narrated. You have a talent with words I think, your own style of writing. It's like everything you're saying is a vivid dream.
Interesting to choose such a condition for Bill, captivating.
Well done. :)

Beautiful, painful, hurting, loving, scary, comforting... all of that at the same time. You managed to write something very unique in a very beautiful way. I can't even describe how beautifully you wrote the twins' relationship. It would be something like this if that even happened (and my god I wish it never does), I'm sure of it.

This fic came exceptionally close to me since I myself have complications in my eyes because of my diabetes. Right now they are okay even if my eye sight is not awfully good, but I've had more severe bleedings in both of them, they've been operated and lazered etc. during the years - and all I can say is that it's one of the most frightening feeling ever when you can't see. Thoughts of it made this very painful to read, but I thank you for that, because as I often say: if a fic awakes strong emotions in me, it has done it's job.

So thank you for this very beautiful, bittersweet fic!

Author's Response:

Oh, thank you lots. ^-^ I like knowing I portray something well to someone who can identify with it; it makes me feel successful as a writer. You're welcome!

I read this right before I went to bed, but couldn't finish. Soo.. I finished today. Dammit I wanted to be first to review, xD but luck you! Got nine so far! ;)

Anyways.. this was so beautiful! I couldn't stop thinking about this during today. *_* The entire concept is so different, and gorgeous.. My heat broke too many times while reading this. If I lost the colors in my eyesight.. idk... I just.. would give up. :/ Because colors are so precious and beautiful, and while sometimes black/grey may look cool, to live with it would drain all the mood in life. If every magenta, and bright yellow flower was suddenly gray, wow. And I mean, I have a friend who's color blind, but he can't tell a part shades of colors, and he always asks me, "What color are your eyes?" My eyes are blue.. and he cannot see them. I get so sad. :/ And in your fiction Bill cannot see ANY color, now that's just terrible. To picture in your mind the colors, and when you close your eyes, you can swear you see blinks and flashes of random neon colors or something... Wow.
I loved Tom's role in this, so stunning and lovely! He was there, and I loved the "I' right here, Bill" in the end... So much love.
And all the tears Bill had after the accident.. I mean, he lost his color sight while having a fun conversation with his brother. Only for it to fully damage his young life. Gah! How tragic D: *cries*

The last sentence in the fic, has to be the most heartbreaking.

SUCH a lovely fic, I will read it again! (:

Soooo beautiful...
And I didn't know the name for those, thank you! :D Learn something everyday. ;)

Absolutely great ending. Pardon, great EVERYTHING.
I think about this story as a methapor - this is what fame did to Bill. He's always guided by someone, seeing things like people want him to see and when he's left alone he has no idea what to do. He's almost blind.
Thank you for this beautiful story :)

Author's Response: I love how deeply you look into the story. ^-^ Thank YOU!
