That I didn't know - though I had heard about Gustav getting bottled by someone with a shaved head. Well written story, very realistic

Oh that was lovely!
Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it.

I kind of love Bill a lot for his entrance :D
I adore Tom and Geo for wanting to tell Rolf about it, too. Loving it!
Author's Response: thank you for the short but specific reviews you have been giving me. it's nice to know what parts go over well. of course, knowing the parts that didn't work well is also helpful.

Aww *wibble sniffle* Poor Gustav.
Prior to that, though - I really loved the descriptions and psyche delving re: skinheads. Well done!
Author's Response: well, there was the info that tom hung out with autonomists when he was young. and the rumors that gustav got beaten up by skinheads. couldn't resist getting all speculative with the socio-political implications. and yes, magdeburg did have a skinhead problem in real life in the 90's.

Oh WOW. Loved the boys looking out for each other, and the cocoa, and... everything. This is wonderful
Author's Response: thank you. and yes, the cocoa really does taste good. try it if ever you get a chance to visit the philippines. hee.

Maybe the character is being colored by my own life experiences; the gray areas are definitely more ambiguous than I realized. I went back and re-read it, from beginning to end. Hope lit-class flashbacks aren't too bad!
Author's Response: Are you kidding?! Lit-class flashbacks are great! Thank you for giving me those.

If he was still feeling strong emotions towards Georg, stronger than the ones he feels towards Bill, then I'd agree with the manipulation. It seems to me that he's simply keeping his relationship uncluttered by unnecessary jealousy. Could be wrong, of course, they are your characters, you're bound to know them better than I do!
Author's Response: Wow, I'm getting lit-class flashbacks from discussing this with you. My take is that you could very well know the characters better than I do, whether I wrote them or not. :-) I was going for ambiguity here. Gustav has both "good" reasons and selfish reasons for making his choices. I dunno...I like writing moral gray areas into stuff.rnHowever, I feel confident in saying this much: by the end of the story, Gustav does love Bill more than Georg, at least romantically. If we factor friendship-love into it, the comparison gets more complicated.

So Short! *mourns briefly* nice last chapter, I especially enjoyed the last little bit. There's so much maturity to Gustav's decision!
Author's Response: Maturity, yes. But also manipulation. Can't we also say that he is lying to Bill for his own benefit, so that Bill won't leave him? rnHey, if you can also suggest more interesting things to add to this chapter, I would be happy to take a look at them.rnThank you!

I really liked how it ended! Good job ^^
Author's Response: Oh, good. I was actually kind of worried that the ending was too low-key, especially since the "action" was front-loaded into Chapter 1.

very interesting, I love it!^^
Author's Response: Thanks. I was interested in seeing how the characters would relate to the social issues around them. I don't really see a lot of contemporary German issues dealt with in TH fic. There's a lot of unexplored potential there as far as character development goes.

Sounds interesting. Can't wait to read more.
Author's Response: Thanks. You shouldn't have to wait long. I'm working on chapter 2 now.

Not bad for a first chapter. :) Please continue.
Author's Response: thank you. actually, this was always going to be a four-chaptered fic no matter what the reader response was, but it's always great to be asked to keep going. :-)
