Aha, but what Tom and Andi don't know, is that the Darkrunners already have him!
A tip on writing format: When writing an action, you have to pair it with the person's dialogue as well. Example:
“We’re the Darkrunners Bill. Have you heard of us?” Bill shook his head.
“Tom mentioned the Darkrunners, he does business with you sometimes I guess. Underground black market, you deal in firearms and drugs.”
The "Bill shook his head" part should be right before his dialogue, on that same line.

Tom... How horrible for him to wake up in a hospital with little to now idea of how he was hurt or how he got there. Even more terrible to realize what really happened. I can't imagine how guilty he must feel but at the same time he should not. He did nothing wrong however, foolish he may have been but upon leaving Tom's home Bill had no intention of doing harm to him or anyone els. When they were attaced so to speak Bill's thought process was to protect Tom but dispose of the threat. I'm not really sure that when this programing kicked in Bill could have stopped it. It was obvious to me when Tom walked up to Bill after doing what he did that it was most likely a bad idea but I don't see Tom doing anything different. That part of Bill's program is strong. Survial is a very strong instinct in humans and humanoids too. In Bill they may not be instinct, just the same though. I understand Toms sudden fear of Bill and what he can do. It was shocking and really un nerving that this could happen but when Tom's hand brushed up against Bill's key his programing told him to survive. Tom's intention was not to turn him off but to calm him. Bill was not Bill at that moment but someone or something neither of them knew exsisted. Terrifying for both of them. I really hope that Tom does not make the wrong decision concerning Bill. I hope he can understand what happened. They need to meet again.

I think it's interesting that Bill - in his survival mode - didn't assess whether Tom was dead or not. I would think that he would make sure all threats were permanently disposed of. Or maybe I'm speculating at things that aren't there XD

I'm loving this story more and more even though you almost killed Tom :( ugh so much sadness for Bill
