Ajkajaka, I read this entire fic over the span of two days (I would've finished it yesterday, but my eyes started hurting from staring at a computer screen, lol)! I absolutely LOVE this! I don't know where to start.
The characters! It's so nice to see a fic where Tom isn't a player or a man whore. He's sweet, and genuine, and caring, and quirky, and best of all, he's weird in the respect that he just randomly approached Bill with the offer of friendship. It was cute, though, and it immediately made me wonder about him.
I love Bill's characterization as well. I especially like how his internal conflicts weren't so easily solvable. I liked how when one thing was seemingly solved, a sub-problem to the larger issue popped up. It made his problems less two-dimensional and more realistic. His personality was so different from what I normally see, and it's difficult to pinpoint exactly how. I guess the best way to say it would be to say that he's realistic. VERY realistic.
Even the minor characters were believable. From Amber to John, to Gordon, whom we didn't see much of, but constantly heard about.
The other thing that I realy admire you for is that you made the ending realistic. Most authors, had they been writing this fic, would've made everything resolve happily; Bill would make ammends with everyone, Tom and Bill would live happily ever after, and Tom and his mom and step-dad would make ammends. However, while Bill made ammends with Emily, Georg, and Tom, it took him a long while and a bit of struggling to do so. He had to swallow his pride, and he wasn't willing to just do it. When it came to Tom, he wanted to apologize, but at the same time, didn't think that it was his fault. And Tom and his mom and step-dad didn't actually make up. In fact, things were worse between them when Tom told Gordon that he was going to move in with his boyfriend. And while that's not a happy thing, it kept things realistic.
It's almost as if you took a real life situation and just wrote it down; I can't get over how amazingly realistic everything is.
The lingo, especially of Aunt Annie and everyone else down in the south was charming, and I could feel my self being wrapped up in that southern hospitality while I read! ^^
The fic flowed so well. Thank you so much for not having them rush their relationship. Their friendship had to develop first, and then after that, they were friends, and then, it evolved into something more. But even when it became something resembling a relationship, they both hesitated to label it, because they were both nervous, and realistically, that's probably how things would go.
This fic is absolutely wonderful, and honestly, it's a wonder that it hasn't been up for a feature yet! I really hope that you write more multi-chaptered fics, or at least more twc-non related, so that I can read it! You're such a talented author, and I can't get enough of this! It's going straight to my favorites file; you can believe that I'll be reading this again and again. :)

Author's Response: This was the first time where almost half of my characters were actually plucked from real life. Everyone from John and Amber, Melissa, Aunt Annie, the two boys who picked on Bill. So, it makes me really happy to hear that you thought all of the characterizations were so believable, because I was really hoping for that. Also, I'm super, duper, uber happy to hear that you thought it flowed well. You know by now that I had a really hard time writing this, so just hearing that you read it all in two sittings and thought it all fit together nicely, means a whole hell of a lot to me. I'm so glad you read it, and I hope to write more non-twc in the future so that you can read it. <333333
