What an amazing story! I was suffering from The Hand You're Dealt withdrawal so I decided to read this fic. At first I thought it might have been too sad for me but the ending made me glad I read it!

I love how you've written it. When I started reading I assumed Tom was still alive -- I wasn't sure how old he would be but maybe 40-ish? I assumed it was still the 1900th century, in any case. And it pained me to imagine Tom living and meeting Bill only once a year. :( Their memories are lovely and happy but so sad, too!

As always, I love how you write their bond: the touching, the affection. ♥ I love how Bill says "Still beautiful" to Tom and Tom thinks he means himself when he thinks that TOM is beautiful. That's so funny and lovely! And Tom gathering Bill into his arms and sitting by the tree, remembering, is so sweet and happy.

I felt heart-broken when Bill had to go back. :( It was too soon! Bill's "No, no" and his tears felt so sad. And then you turned it around as I slowly realised that Tom was dead, too. And seriously, I was reading "skin torn and peeling from his hands" and I felt glad and relieved because that meant neither of them was alone and missing his twin during the year, between their meetings!

And then the story changed again when I realised that it was set in present day! Georg as a frustrated care-taker is so funny, too. I never would have thought I'd find something funny in this fic, but there I was, feeling almost gleeful about Georg's annoyance (not out of spite but because Georg is such a wonderful character here, so disgruntled, he revels in his disgruntled-ness!) and that the local kids know they should stay far, far away from the cemetery on Halloween! I love that Georg brushes away the dust that got on the stones because Tom touched them. And "proof that Tom and Bill hadn't gotten laid before they died." Georg has no idea. :D

I love this story because it made me feel so many emotions, from lip-quivering sadness to almost laughing out loud, I was so delighted by Georg's point of view.

What is also amazing about this story is that Tom and Bill are, basically, zombies in it. Bill starts as a skeleton! At the end, his face goes dark grey and his voice cracks and gurgles. And still I feel the bond between them and that they find each other beautiful, and I feel the intense romantic love, too, and think they're beautiful. That's amazing. You are such a talented writer!

Ok, I would never, ever come close or touch a story like this one if not knowing you wrote it. I just do not like death/graveyards/dead people coming to life fics.
You made it once again so heartbreakingly beautiful and romantic. I do not know how you do it, but you have a rare gift to transform everything to pure gold.

Oh, I am crying so hard right now, you have no idea. This was so beautiful I can't breathe. Together in life; together in death, forever. At first of course I thought that Bill was dead but Tom was still alive, but I feel better knowing they're both dead, as weird as that sounds. It wouldn't have been right for one to be left behind and grow old alone.
I kind of wish I've had more of Georg's reaction, though - I'm curious as to how he'd react if he actually found pictures of the twins or done a little digging on who they are or something.

*cries* That was... soo sad!! :((
And yeah, I started getting a small suspicion when Bill had mentioned that Tom caught the disease as well.
What sickness was it? Sounded like cancer :( Or I suppose given the time period it was probably consumption.

Their hands were linked as before, but there were no races, no games, just the pure joy of touch they were doomed to lose, too soon.

Every line was beautiful, but the one above made my heart clench. I think one's going to haunt my dreams tonight. *much love*

This was so beautiful. I already have a nasty cold and crying like I did when reading this didn't much improve my looks but I loved it anyway :)

This is not only good writing (the atmosphere, the details--everything is just so vivid), it's really good story-telling as well. Excellent, beautiful story.

Oh god this made me cry so much! This was heart wrenderingly beautiful and adorably sweet. I only twigged at the end that Tom had also died and it was a really good twist. Even though they cannot see eachother they are always next to eachother forever. Xx

Poor babies, but at least they are together and they can see each other once a year, back to the same way it always was.

To touch and remember.

Beautiful really. <333

That was so so beautiful. Usually I hate deathfics when the twins leave each other, but this story isn't even about that. Well, not exactly, because they still are together, at least I would like to think like that, since you haven't written anything about them besides sleeping.

I loved this melancholic mood you have set up, entangled with the twins' memories.

I was rather in a shock to find out that Tom had died too, and that he died just two days after Bill's death - I wonder what happened to him - probably the same fever. But then, who did engrave the very last phrase on Tom's gravestone? Or was it in his will, for those words to be etched in his stone, I don't know, but it's heartclenchingly beautiful, especially going with Georg's background of thoughts and jokes about the two who lie right next to each other, and meet every once in a while. It is sad, really, but since they have all the eternity, it doesn't matter how long they have to wait before they meet again - because they will see eatch other again and again, and again.

This was lovely to read, and once again, I admire the atmosphere and the world you have built even in this short one-shot. Thank you.

Author's Response: I usually can't stand deathfics where the twins are split, either - the idea evokes an almost visceral negative response from me, to be quite honest. But these two are most certainly together, even in their sleep.

Tom did die of the same fever, and overexertion from trying to care for Bill when they were both sick. His will, written when it became clear that Bill wouldn't recover, contained two things: a wish that Kasimir would be fed by a neighbor as long as she lived, and the second part of Bill's bible verse, to be inscribed on his gravestone. Just in case you wanted to know. :) Thank you for the lovely review, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

What a brilliant idea. I only started getting a clue toward the end of the Bill & Tom scene and I think I just gaped from there on. This was just wonderful. :)

Author's Response: Hee, thank you so much. :) I was hoping the twist ending would work out!

Gorgeous. Absolutely.. I can't even find proper words, lol. I'm tearing up, does that count? Oh, how I'd love to read the story that led up to this, and every October 31st there after.

How do they do this every year? What allows them to rise? What happened the first time they rose together? *swoons* Beautiful. :0)

Author's Response: Thank you so much. :) I can at least tell you that the first time they rose together, they were both very surprised, but so, so happy to be reunited.
