This chapter was so good even though it was so hard to read at points. The whole story has had such a realistic feel and this was no exception, so when Bill was taken, his fear and Tom's anguish were so palpable it hurt.
It's hard for me to explain how the rape scene affected me, because I'm one of those people that *likes* non-con in a certain context and this rode such a fine line for me of liking it or not, if that makes sense (at the risk of sounding a pervert). It was overwhelmingly a feeling of wanting them to stop and wanting Tom to save him, of the horror and helplessness of the whole thing, but then there was this little part that felt like Bill did--kind of affected anyway--and I think it's because you did a really genius thing in your characterization of the danachi's need for sexual stimulation. You kind of made the whole awful thing somehow--I don't want to say bearable, for Bill but--almost like something he wanted and enjoyed despite himself, just because of his instinct for self-preservation and because of the creature he is. And so yeah, I liked it, the whole thing. I'm not sure if that was your intention. But anyway, I thought it was amazingly written. :)
And when Tom came for him, I could see the whole energy field thing as vividly as watching a movie. I was so glad with the way this chapter ended, with Bill being able to harness his powers to in some way stop the assault because of Tom's love. This leaves me with a lump in my throat, and I can't wait to see what happens next, as usual.
Author's Response: I'm really glad that Bill being affected by the sexual tension around him came across because that was what I was really trying to portray. I am iffy about rape scenes in fics and had a hard time writing this because I know it is really sensitive and it's an important issue. I didn't want it to just turn into a scene where Bill is abused- I think that is something that is portrayed far too much in this fandom for whatever reason- but at the same time, this is something that had to happen.rnrnFor Bill I think it is better AND worse that he can't help but start to like what is happening to him, and actually start to WANT it. That was such an intense chapter! Gangrape is never easy to write, and I like that you wrote that scene so effectively, without dwelling on the gratuitious nature of slash; it was very clearly happening but the reader isn't concentrating on it as an act, but on the effects of said act. (I don't if I said it right. Not very good with words right now.)

Oh wow, that was great. I hate Georg and every one of those guys that took Bill. I felt so bad for both Bill and Tom. The end of the chapter was awesome, I got so happy when Tom told Bill that he loves him and Bill said it back. I can't wait to see what happens next, now that all of Tom's men disobeyed his orders and to see if Bill will be okay.

I just realized something... You've made me fall so in love with these characters, Bill especially, that I'm not so sure I can read this chapter. Tom was just knocked out cold and I KNOW where this is going.. but I'm actually scared to read it. Like, it'll impact ME somehow... I can't explain it.. I'm going to force myself to read it because you wrote it. I know it'll be wonderfully written, the imagery vivid, and maybe that's what's making me hesitate... I'll let you know.
