Aw, poor Tom ... I want to know more about his parents though, and why they would leave him.
I'm not sure if you already have ideas for the next chapters, but maybe you could write about what the hospital does to help make Bill and Tom better? They would probably have to go to meet with a psychologist, maybe even in a group session, and they would be given a diet that they must eat. That way there would be more situations to write about than just them meeting in their hospital rooms. =)
