The poor twins:( It seems that Aya and Wallis have their own issues with prejudice. I can't believe Tom called Simone mom too. It was sweet and I can't get over it. I can see why it would be hard for humans to raise youko but I don't think taking them away is the answer. I don't know if that much change is good for them. It really bothered me when Aya leaned over the table with the kits said they were happy and acted like they were just saying that to hide from the truth. That is the truth. They are as happy as they can be with the loss of everything they ever knew. She wants to take them away before it's too late for what? Update soon:) Great chapter and I still really love this story.

And Tom follows Bill's thoughts in most things, but I think the real problem was that Bill didn't talk it out with Tom first and lead him into it properly. You mean everyone hates cliffhangers, wench. I feel so badly for those poor little kits. I love how you're slowly building up the evolution of their relationship though - that whole opening scene felt soft, and sleepy, and right. Gorgeous.

Author's Response: I know, I'm so bad. ;) As for Aya...the female of the species tends to be quite sharp, more aggressive than the male in general. Hmm! Yes, it is a bad thing for the twins, giving them a bit of a bad association. And Tom deserves hugs.

And Aya and Wallis are, how shall we say, a little misguided? ;) As for, before it's too late, we shall get into speculation for that but it's going to be one of those cryptic things. Youko are stingy about sharing certain bits of knowledge with outsiders.

I hope they don't take them from Simone and Gordon. Tom and Bill should have a say in this, I'm so nervous right now.

More seriously, I just read all you have of this series in its entirety, and I'm still hungry for more. I love the way you combine fantastic creature like the youko with the realism of hate crimes, of Bill and Tom's feeling conflicted over adopting Simone and Gordon as their new parents, the little details of their lives. This is exactly the kind of fully immersive story I love, and I'll be looking forward to the next chapter! :)
