Your story is really good. I don't think you need a beta reader. To be honest, you write better than some people who've always written in English.
I like your original characters. Tom is acting annoying, but that works with how the story is going so far. Oh, and if you're planning on having Lucy and Bill get together I wouldn't protest. :) I'm definitely looking forward to reading more.
