Oh I wasn't just talking about Bill alone, I just wasn't clear, had it been another situation I probably would have looked at it another way, it was just where you had the conversation. Right after sex. It is normally the time when the couple cuddle together and stuff (I suck at explaining, but you get the picture), they don't usually go straight to talking about sexual transmittable deceases. "Oh hey I know we just almost fucked, but as I was saying, I don't want to really fuck you yet because one of us might kill the other one, kthnxbai"
I understand that probably wasn’t the way you wanted me to read it, but that was what I felt it was then and there. Had it been my story I probably would have done the same thing, but as a reader it was just how it felt. Don’t get me wrong, I love you and your stories, but that last part just wasn’t as awesome as I know you could have done it.
Author's Response: Ah, I understand. Well, Tom did ask, and Bill has been very forthright with him so far. It might have seemed weird for the moment, and perhaps it was, but if he didn't answer honestly then, what would he have said? Because if he said anything else (ie., put his answer off until later), I can see Tom worrying about it, seeing as Tom's so high-strung. I'm glad you told me, though, because something like that can be explained in the next chapter and it works quite well into my plans. Thank you. :)

You know what I love about this chapter? Usually I don't like it when Bill is in charge with the "scenes" because he doesn't fit the scene. But the way you wrote it, makes me feel like Bill should really be the man of the relationship dude.

I loved everything until the end, I know they needed to have that talk, but it just seemed... I don't know, it just didn't fit.
" “I think straight people think about it less. I don’t know for sure, but I think so." when Bill said that I was kind of like "oh ._." Bill really does not seem like the type who would say something like that, I understand that he has seen friends pass away because of it, but that means that HE thinks about it more than others, he doesn't seem like the kind of person that would just go "straight people don't think about it".
But don't get me wrong, I loved this chapter! The last part just wasn't as good as the rest of it. If that made sense.

I'm sorry you feel that what Bill said is OOC for him. I don't think Bill was trying to say anything insulting about straight people, I believe that in Bill's experience as a gay man in New York, he has seen many of his friends die from complications from a disease that primarily affects gay men. (Statistics are here.) From his perspective, straight people wouldn't have to think of being tested as much as gay men. That doesn't mean his opinion fits the facts at all or is true; it's a statement made by a character that is fitting with his experience.
Again, I'm really glad you liked the chapter, I just wanted to explain that part a little more. Thank you for reading and for your thoughts. I do appreciate hearing them. :)
