Hello! Glad to see you still working on this, though I hope you are doing well with your studies all the same. :)

The beginning of the chapter was really cozy. Tom waking up all sore and achy and still making sure that Bill was warm, every inch of him---that was positively adorable. This line was an especially nice touch:

He'd left Bill's feet and shoulders bare and he just couldn't let that go.

Tom's so sweet, he just doesn't know it. ;) I love how he'll do something for Bill and then get angry at himself over it. Bill is so sweet on him and he tries to ignore it but he really can't help but return the affection every now and then.

This was adorable too:
but halfway through the night he'd been woken up with long, thin arms slung over his waist and scruffy black hair tickling his nose.

In fact, the entire beginning is just cute. Bill is so in love with Tom but still can piss him off if he wants, and poor Tom is just struggling to handle it all. Bill can be so obnoxious to get what he wants, which usually is snuggles from Tom, so I'm not sure why Tom is still trying to resist.

The boy was intoxicating and sitting there, bewitched by the sight and by himself, Tom thought he might just let Bill ruin his life.

I love this entire passage and the paragraphs above, but particularly this part. I love the imagery of Bill bundled in the blanket that Tom gave to him, just observing him serenely while Tom is being paranoid over Bill. And of course, Tom has to give in, because really, Bill is nothing but a naïve, unworldly sweetheart... just with a few secrets. I love how gentle Bill is with him; he senses when Tom is angry and knows precisely how to calm him again without intruding.

I feel so sorry for Bill, though. He had to break sometime. Poor boy needs a hug; he's incredibly stubborn and pushy but he's shown his sensitive side as well and I never believed that he would be able to tolerate Tom's insufferable pigheadedness forever. He doesn't even know how to exist in the human world and when he tries to understand, Tom keeps pushing him down.

"Would you choose to exist?" he asked loudly. "Or would you choose to live!?"

Bill is so perceptive and it's interesting to see how he applies his philosophies to human existence. Even if he hasn't spent much time as a human I think he's certainly on the right track, whereas Tom is still fumbling along. The ending was well placed because I can now hope that Tom has finally decided to explain to Bill the magic of the human world and therefore stop trying to resist his feline charm, but I think in general it was a bit rushed. Bill's car-roof monologue seemed rather random and would have flowed a bit better if there had been more build up and explanation outside of the dialogue. The scene seemed a bit flat, if that's possible. Overall, however, I'm very excited to see how their relationship progresses from here. I'd like to see them on a date in D.C., but that's just me. ;D

Author's Response: I'm really glad you enjoyed this chapter ^.^ You've managed to pick out some of the things that I wrote when I was really inspired like Bill's feet and Tom's ruminations. Unfortunately, your perceptive self has also picked out the things that weren't inspired like the 'car monologue'. *Sigh* An understanding between the two has been a long time coming and all the ideas I have left for typical interaction fall on the other side of that understanding. The point is, in order for them to get where I needed them to be, Bill had to do something outrageous. The Tom in my head would've said no and insisted on doing it the long, hard way. The Bill in my head, however, is kind of up for anything hence the awkward, random car thing. I am trying to fix that and still keep the story moving forward.rnI have already begun writing the next chapter and, so far, the boys are still in the city so... who knows, maybe you'll get your date? :)

~Chapter Thirteen~

First off: just LOL at Bill playing WoW.

I love how dominant Bill is in Tom's mind, at all hours. Even though Tom says that he doesn't want Bill to cause any trouble, I honestly think he's worried about abandoning him and is conscientious about boring or displeasing him. And Tom gets so defensive when Georg insults Bill, as well; I'm definitely noticing all the little seeds being planted. And oh, what was Tom doing during this chapter? Planting flowers? Hmm. ;)

I also feel like Tom might be starting to be attracted to him, just by the small visual descriptions; Bill in Tom's shirt, Bill in the glow of the TV, and definitely Bill lounging on the railroad tie. I love how whimsical Bill was in this chapter, and the little hints of sensuality. I wonder how long Tom will last. :) I can't believe that he's still so deep in denial, but I feel as if a big revelation is coming his way.


~Chapter Fourteen~

Bill doesn't know what candy is. Poor, poor soul. His confusion about the human world is just so adorable, by the way. I can't believe Tom hasn't just mauled him with snuggles yet. I would.

Oh really, Tom? You'd think he'd realize that denial is not only a river in Egypt, out of all people. ;) And then he goes off being all thoughtful about milk. What a hypocrite. I love how attached Bill is getting to Tom---not as if he hadn't been since he was a cat, but now as a human as well. He's very friendly and a bit over-friendly and I can't wait to see all the catlike ways in which he'll express his affection. At the same time, though, the actions seem slightly detached, like he's being so affectionate just to make Tom uncomfortable and provoke him, but I don't think Bill would do these things at all [like climb on his back in a supermarket] if he didn't fundamentally want to express affection beneath the teasing.

Overall, Bill is adorable. I told you I loved cat-Bill. :)

And I wish Tom would take that stick out of his ass. Bill is so innocent [in a very devious way] and I feel bad for him with the amount of shit he has to put up with. He seems to have accepted Tom's grouchy ways though and is rolling with it; he knows how to notify Tom when he does something wrong [dropping the milk] but doesn't hold grudges [the catwoman/batman line] once he's dealt the appropriate punishment. I hope Tom gets with it soon enough.

Good chapters, though they seemed a bit insubstantial and might have been better combined into one. Which is fine of course, filler chapters are necessary, and usually are a sign of great things to come. ;)

Author's Response: Again, thank you for you insights, I won't lie, I was a little thrown by the 'insubstantial' comment. But I think you're right. These chapters were a way to move the story forward and hopefully this next chapter doesn't disappoint. ^.^
