Well, it's a good start. That chapter's pretty short, so my impressions are limited.
Your style is good, though, and everyone seems IC enough (at least, the characters that have appeared till now).
IMHO, you should keep this plot as simple as possible, with emotional development, but no excessive drama. It seems to be working on an internal debate level, and it would be a shame to give that up for the oh-so-overdone "us against the world" course.
Hope to hear more from you soon! (Can't wait for the Tom/Bushido interaction :))
