I've read this the first time in Italian, about one year ago? And all I remember is me crying like crazy the whole time. It did hurt so much, I remember. And from time to time I'd remember this story, but never had the balls to read it again! But today I was really looking forward to read this. Took me the whole morning, actually. And I'm pleased!
I was more relaxed, I kept telling myself I KNEW what was going to happen and didn't have to get freaked out. Also, since I had read this in Italian I missed a few things (no matter how good the translation is, the original is always better!), but mostly what I missed is the German accent! I started laughing in the most horrible situations (like when Tom's raped in front of Bill-- How could someone laugh at that? Well, I did! I knov I'm teRRible!) It was just too hilarious. Also, there's this thing... The fact that you kept using things like "It was like a TV show." or "it looked like a Tim Burton movie", yeah, you gave the idea, but it made me laugh that it was a bit out of place, since there were no jersey-shore-like TV shows at that time, and also, Tim Burton was not even born yet! But I liked it - Gave me something else to cheer me up. At first I thought that you were not quite following what we know from those 'prisons' and WWII, but then I realized you never said they were Jews- They were only in prison. And that quite explained why you were going so 'easy' on them, known the historical situation during the holocaust.
Couldn't help the tears in the end, though. It was just too much, Bill with Mara and him remembering his other half... I already knew they got together again, but I just couldn't help it!
Oh! And before I end my review, when Tom was falling asleep once they were out of the 'prison'... You wrote "I don't understand why this keeps happening in the stories." and that's absolutely something I missed with the translation, because I'd have remembered such a phrase. I loved it!
And thanks again for such a great story!
One more thing! I didn't know you were treehousecaity from dA! I'm in love with your drawings!
Author's Response: Haha, yeah when I started writing for this site, it was purely for a fun exercise to see what I could come up with and whether I could get a story to flow. Because I did a lot of story writing spontaneously, there are a lot of historical inaccuracies and weird modern references because I never took the time to really make anything professional. In retrospect, I would have because it's good training to really creating a believable environment for the reader. Live and learn! Also, yes, I'm treehousecaity! I've always toyed with the idea of doing a graphic novel based on a story here, but never got around to it. Maybe someday!

I loved this story with all my heart! I just fealt all these different kinds of emotions that would take me forever to list! Through out some parts but mainly the last and second to last chapters I cried my eyes out! When Tom was shot and Bill wasn't able to help his twin when he felled form the boxcar, I was shocked! I couldn't believe it! My breathing stopped and I think my heart did to. I fealt exactly like Bill all numb and still couldn't believe what happened! kI thought they were both going to get away and be free! But no!!! You just had to do that! *glares* I thought Tom died cause I was thinking theres no way that the guard would let him live after all that he's done! But than again I was thinking and hoping that he was still alive! Since Bill would have known. He would have known if Tom was died after all they can feel each other! But now I'm so happy that after two fricken years that they are fianlly together and free!!! *cries* Agh I still hate Andreas though, for hurting the twins and still wished that Tom at least punched the shit out of him! *seething*
These types of story just brings tears to my eyes and ache in my heart!Some parts were actually very hard for me to read and I just skipped over some paragraphes or sentences so I wouldn't have to see what was going on. I have read many stories of the Holocaust(sp) and this just goes right along with it. Even though this story is fiction it is indeed very powerful! Congrates on writing such a wonderful fic! *bows down to your awesomeness*

Too many damn shit happening! lol but i happy ending is too good for me to care! this was perfect, their relationship didn't seem cheesy but genuine and beautiful! I loved the accent you used! haha thanks for the good read, although i cried at the last two chapters (i'm blaming you for that) but the ending was priceless!

Ahhhhhh, holy shit woman, you made me cry! i never cry! lol, i was so afraid to continue reading this last chapter, oh my god, i don't know how i feel right now, but this was extremely emotional. wow wow wow. i can't believe they are free now! freeeeee. Thank you for writting this really, it was hard to read though, but it was worth it.
The love they had each other was so strong, never ended, i could felt it completely, God i think i will cry again, haha.
The only thing i have left to say is congratulations, you really are talented.
