Author's Response: Yep, I'm back in business with 14. I've tried to clean it up a little, and I'm excited to get going. Mmm, yes Tom isn't usually the stable sweetheart. However, I see that sparkle in Bill, that get and go fire that I tried to isolate and focus on in this character version of him.
I'll be trying to get this updated soon, once I stop fudging around with my brain and capture all the plot bunnies hopping around - I must cage them all and keep focused. ò.ó

Argh! About your read count and lack of reviews, it is just frustrating! I hate when heaps of people read something, then don't even take out the time to simply tell the author what they thought of it! Especially for this fic, because it is just totally freakin' awesome! Wow, trippy dream o.o It's a little ironic that he was just previously saying about their mum having night terrors, and then he has one. But I guess it was a nightmare, or maybe not, or I dunno. Author's Response: It really is. Though, I think it's just because I've been a little spoiled lately, my last couple stories are doing better than the first couple I started with. (This one, and 'Berlin, A.'. On the other hand, what hurts my heart is that I've never experienced quite this extreme of a ratio - I'm used to maybe, I dunno, a couple hundred people following, and not many reviews, but more outspoken readers than this ever received. (I want to say that sounds egotistical or exaggerated, but I'm just estimating based on the steady amount of hits I get each chapter on my stories thus far. My first one, I expected to receive a minimum of 200-300 each chapter after the first installment, and it remained in that ballpark with only slight variations until the end. You have to draw a few sad conclusions from that.) However, with '14.' here, from the time I first published it back in April, until a day or two ago when I removed it from hiatus, I received a staggering amount of hits on both available chapters, but with review counts as low as 2 on the second. I couldn't believe it. O.o I think though, that even better than that, is seeing the unexpected list of people who have favourited your work. That bugs me a little less, (because I expect if you read and don't immediately say you love it, there's something wrong with it and I one of those people who want to know straight away so I can try and fix it for everyone) seeing as someone liked it enough to favourite it, but then I wonder how you can -not- tell the author you had enjoyed it - she (in this case, I) sit there and look at my empty review bin and have the misconception that it wasn't good at all, when in fact it wasn't the case for several people. If it had a billion responses, not that it makes it any better not to review in this case but if you really have zilch to say and the author is doing okay, maybe then. I don't know. *big huff* Oh god, I'm sorry I ranted so much. *falls face first into desk* Your reference to that seemed to get me all... well, rantyish. (Wow, my vocabulary just plummeted.) I needed to vent. *grins* My logic doesn't really work on the best of days, and I probably dug a hole for myself going on like I had, but hey, my work means a lot to me. ^///^;;;
ANYWAY, *clears throat* I do want to thank you on your thorough review, your thoughts and what you liked, because I mean, as I explained above, it means a great deal that you took the time and cared enough to let me know. Your enthusiasm is really sweet and I appreciate it very much. Bill you little charmer x3 It's cute how he's completely unphased by the new surrounding and stuff, while Tom's sitting there mentally freaking out.
Ooops, all my questions get answered when I continue reading, the downside to reviewing as you read x.x And of course he'll be a bad influence, on day with Tom and he's already got him smoking xD I love it! Your writing is totally amazing, although I'm not sure what it is about it that amazes me so much..I'll put some thought into it ^^

Billy, Billy, Billy, what are we going to do with you? I can't stop myself from wanting to cuddle Tom, he has so much responsibility over his shoulders already with his mother and now on top of that with Bill. *sighs* It could be good up to a certain point to have him go out with Bill at times, at least he doesn't have to worry where he might be, but I don't see him really following him much into his 'extracurricular activities'. Tom's too tightly-wound and mature for that to happen, or that's how I see it at least.
Another fantastic update! And I'll be looking forward to more. Loved all the info on the German schools. :)
Author's Response: Good to see you back, friend. Tom -is- mature, but as painful as it is to say this, he's breakable, just like any other kid at that age. Your resolve is always weak and your walls only extend so high, and unless you've got a good foundation to fall back on (Ie. a caring guardian or family, friends or otherwise), you will fall. Tom's got a good head on his shoulder, but the question is not whether he humours Bill or not, but how long will it take for him to do so.

As I've said two times before, I love your writing style... I dunno what about it I find so awesome, I can't pinpoint the reasons I like it so much (I'm just not very good with words; I can feel why I love it, but I can't spell it out or anything or like say for sure the reasons...)... That dream Tom had is quite creepy actually... and who was that figure at the end in his dream? Was it Bill?
And I find myself loving Bill more and more.. how he's all curled up on Tom in the morning, how he calls him Tomi... ^_^ It's endearing!
And how Tom feels kind of uncomfortable with Bill walking with him in school is very realistic and understandable. I'd feel the same way if I was Tom..
Hmm, and I'm curious what Bill's records from his previous school says about him...

Wow, when they Tokio Hotel is a global band, they do mean it! :D Hehe, well, High School is a rather popular subject, and I think it has a lot to do with the age range of fans. I, myself tend to avoid high school themes unless absolutely necessary. Good luck with your research! (I almost regret basing them in Germany here. xD)

hmm, i only just realised that i haven't reviewed the 2nd chapter of this even though i've read it when u posted it before.... i'm not sure why... i guess it was around the time keyboard started giving me trouble.... Anyways, as before, i gotta say i love love love your writing style! And I really like Bill even though he seems to be a bad influence... Tom only blinked in response.
“I mean, the roof, then the drain pipe, and then the hill of grass or whatever... never mind.” Bill shrugged, sitting back down on the edge of Tom’s bed.
I'm very curious about that part, as well as this:
“Oh c’mon, you must know. Anyhow, I know the area well enough; I lived about fifteen minutes from here for a while, I think for about six or seven months a few years ago. I’d really love to stay and chat, but I’m suffocating and need some fresh air, if you know what I mean.”
Hmm, so he lived 15 minutes from Tom's place for a while not too long ago...? Curious, very curious...
And I LOLed at this:
If anything, he wasn’t the one parading around in girls’ clothes and makeup; Tom liked to believe he asserted his masculinity.
I really do find it endearing that Tom is such a goody-goody but has dreads looking all tough-like... just like Bill said... :P

Anyways, I really like this so far. The story line is great, and I love how you describe and capture all the characters. This was so good! Hee, Bill is quite a character, isn't he? Love that he's so... confident and bold, opposed to Tom who is more quiet and subdued. I love that Tom is so protective of his mother, love the way he ran to comfort her when the odious woman told her about Bill. I also loved that despite thinking he shouldn't hold hands with Bill, Tom couldn't stop himself from liking it. I'll be looking forward to more.

rnAH - goodness, I know -exactly- how you feel about seeing the 'major character death' warning; I myself tend to avoid stories with that warning, and I really, really, really did not want to put up that warning on my own story. However, it must be done, or it'd be a lie. I convinced myself that sometimes it is necessary to incorporate death, to illustrate a proper picture. I'm not sure the basis of your worry, but if it's for Tom or Bill, I'm willing to 'spoil' it a bit and assure you not to fret too much. rn
